Well, hello there! I’m Lisa Marion McWhirter photographer for ADVENTURE ELOPEMENTS IN ICELAND. Your go-to gal for capturing those epic moments amidst Iceland's breathtaking landscapes. If there's one thing that sets my soul on fire, it's immersing myself in the great outdoors of Iceland, whether it's embarking on heart-pounding hiking adventures or scaling ice walls like a modern-day explorer.
Now, let's talk about what makes my lens tick—elopements. I specialize in crafting awe-inspiring elopement experiences, particularly amidst the ethereal beauty of ice caves and glaciers. Picture saying your vows in the midst of glistening ice formations, with the only witness being the majestic Icelandic wilderness. It's a once-in-a-lifetime moment that I feel privileged to capture.
My favourite part of elopement—the magic moment when the couple realizes they've made the perfect choice to elope. Seeing that sheer joy and contentment on their faces is what it's all about for me.
But hey, it's not all about work! When I'm not behind the lens, you'll probably find me indulging my inner nerd. Yep, that's right—I'm a proud aficionado of all things Star Wars, Harry Potter, anime, Doctor Who, and horror movies. So, if you ever want to geek out over lightsabers, and debate the best Hogwarts house or discuss the best plot twists in anime history, I'm your gal!
Oh, and speaking of making a difference, I'm passionate about giving back to this stunning land that inspires me every day. That's why I make donations to plant trees in Iceland, ensuring that its natural beauty is preserved for generations to come. Additionally, I proudly support the local ICE-SAR association, because safety in the Icelandic wilderness is paramount.

I have been photographing so many different elopements in Iceland and have experience in photographing and planning elopements like; how to include your family in your day and having your family part of the day, having a small aeroplane ride as your wedding car, arranging a picnic after your ceremony, visiting ice caves and glaciers, adventuring through the mountain roads or stopping at a gas station for you to try out an Icelandic hot dogs (even vegan hot dogs!), arranging first looks, helping on finding a wedding dress suitable for long hiking elopements and keeping the makeup looking good, making a memorable day even it would be raining, sharing laughs even our feet just got wet by crossing a small river, and so more!

Leave no Trace ethics is something that has a special place in my heart and I follow it every day when I’m adventuring in Iceland and photographing couples in the landscapes of Iceland. What is Leave No Trace? It’s a framework of minimum impact practices for anyone visiting the outdoors. You can read more about it from their official site.
HOW CAN FOLLOWING LEAVE-NO-TRACE ETHICS BE SHOWN ON YOUR ELOPEMENT DAY IN ICELAND?
It’s all about setting an example for others: As couples exchange their vows amidst the grandeur of nature, they have an opportunity to inspire others. By prioritizing the principles of leaving no trace, they set an example for future generations, showcasing how it's possible to cherish and celebrate love while also respecting the environment. When we take care of the spot where you get married, you will be able to visit it years later and enjoy it just how it was years ago when you said “I do.”
By leaving no trace, we can show our respect for the intricate balance of nature and ensure that their celebration has minimal impact. Treading lightly minimizes soil erosion, protects wildlife habitats, and contributes to the overall health of the ecosystem.
Iceland is one of the most visited countries in the world and tourism has shaped the landscapes a lot. Unfortunately, many places have been closed due to people not following the trails and doing illegal off-road driving. That has left a huge impact on nature that hasn’t recovered.
With my photography business, I focus on making environmental choices and work with vendors that do the same. If my eloping couples choose to have a special activity on their day, it’s important for me to suggest them a tour company that leaves a minimal environmental impact.
