HIGHLANDS ELOPEMENTS PHOTOGRAPHY

Your story in the Highlands of Iceland.

The Highlands are where Iceland feels most like itself.

Your ceremony can feel genuinely private

Your day isn't shaped by crowds or busy viewpoints

You have room to slow down and be present

The landscape becomes part of the experience, not just the backdrop

For many couples, that's exactly the appeal.

The Highlands aren't chosen because they're famous.

They're chosen because of how they feel. The space.

The stillness. The freedom to experience your day without distractions.

Here, the landscape has a way of slowing everything down.

You find yourself breathing deeper.

Looking up more often.

Paying attention to the moments that matter.

That's why so many couples are drawn here.

Not because they want to do more.

Because they want more space to experience it.

Wondering if the Highlands are the right fit for your Iceland elopement day?

The Highlands aren't for every couple.

And that's exactly why I love helping couples explore whether this part of Iceland truly matches the experience they're dreaming about.

During your Iceland Experience Design Session, we'll talk through the Highlands, compare them with other regions of Iceland, and explore what would feel most like you.

What to expect when eloping in the Highlands of Iceland

Access is seasonal

Most Highland roads are only open during the summer months, typically between mid-June and mid-September.

Outside of that window, snow, weather, and road conditions often make access impossible.

Some locations require a specially equipped vehicle or an experienced local driver, while others are easier to reach.

The good news?

You don't need to figure that out yourself.

I'll help you understand what's possible based on your date, comfort level, and the type of experience you're hoping to have.

Expect Iceland to be Iceland

The Highlands have a way of reminding you that nature is in charge.

Weather can shift quickly.

Wind can arrive unexpectedly.

Conditions can change throughout the day.

Rather than fighting that reality, we plan for it.

With the right preparation, flexibility, and local knowledge, changing conditions become part of the experience rather than something that takes away from it.

Comfort matters

Many people assume a Highlands elopement requires extreme hiking or advanced outdoor skills.

That's not necessarily true.

Some locations require more walking than others, but there are options for different comfort levels and abilities.

My role is to recommend locations that fit you.

Not the other way around.

The goal isn't to push your limits.

It's to create an experience you'll genuinely enjoy.

Privacy comes naturally

One of the biggest reasons couples choose the Highlands is simple:

Space.

Unlike some of Iceland's more visited locations, it's entirely possible to spend long stretches of the day without seeing another person.

That sense of privacy creates something special.

The freedom to slow down.

The freedom to be yourselves.

The freedom to focus on each other without feeling observed.

For many couples, that's exactly what they're looking for.

How will you get the planning help for your Hihgland elopement?

Planning a Highlands elopement comes with a few extra considerations.

Road access.

Weather conditions.

Vehicle requirements.

Seasonal closures.

And understanding which locations are actually a good fit for the experience you want to create.

That's where local guidance makes all the difference.

Most couples don't come to me with a detailed Highlands itinerary.

They come with a feeling. A desire for privacy. A sense of adventure. A wish to experience a side of Iceland that few visitors ever see.

From there, I'll help you shape the rest.

That includes:

  • Location recommendations based on your season and comfort level

  • Guidance on vehicle access and transportation

  • Weather planning and backup options

  • Timeline design that allows space to actually enjoy the experience

  • Recommendations based on privacy, accessibility, and your priorities

Because the goal isn't simply getting you into the Highlands.

It's helping you create a day that feels effortless once you're there.

You don't need to become an expert on Highland roads, river crossings, or weather patterns.

I've got the Iceland part covered.

Are there bathrooms?
Not really, only in a very few places. I’ll guide you on how to “leave no trace” like a pro.

Can we bring guests?
Yes, but only if they’re comfortable with off-road travel and hiking options. Smaller groups work best.

What if there’s bad weather?
We always build a backup location within the Highlands — or adjust your timeline for safety. The magic stays, even when the plan changes.

Can we do portraits somewhere else, too?
Absolutely. Many couples pair the Highlands with a waterfall or black sand beach for a diverse gallery.

Start Planning Your Iceland Elopement

Most couples come to me with a feeling, not a plan.

A feeling that a traditional wedding doesn't quite fit.

A feeling that they want something more personal.

More meaningful.

More like them.

And that's more than enough to get started.

You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out.

In fact, that's often where I come in.

As someone who lives in South Iceland and helps couples plan elopements here every year, I'll guide you through the locations, seasons, logistics, weather, timelines, and all the decisions that can feel overwhelming when you're planning from another country.

What Happens Next?

1. Fill Out The Form

Tell me a little about yourselves, what you're dreaming about, and where you are in the planning process. P.S. If you submit an inquiry and don't hear back within 48 hours, check your spam folder.

Patrick the Puffin insists he's an excellent assistant, but unfortunately, he's still terrible at email management.

2. I'll Reach Out Personally

I'll review your inquiry, answer any initial questions, and help you understand what the next steps might look like.

3. We'll Explore What's Possible

We'll talk about your ideas, your priorities, and the type of experience you're hoping to create.

No pressure.

No obligation.

Just a conversation about what feels right for you.

I can't wait to hear your story. 🤍
