Iceland Elopement Packages & Planning Help

South Iceland Elopement Experiences.
Thoughtfully Designed & Photographed.

I help couples create intentional elopement experiences in Iceland that feel personal, meaningful, and completely their own.

From choosing the right location to building a timeline that flows naturally, navigating Iceland's unpredictable weather, and connecting you with trusted local vendors, I'll guide you through every step of the process so you never have to figure it all out on your own.

Because planning an elopement in Iceland isn't just about choosing beautiful places.

It's about creating a day where you can be fully present with each other.

A day that feels calm instead of rushed.

Meaningful instead of performative.

And true to who you are as a couple.

The photographs become a reminder of how it all felt.

The day you chose yourselves — surrounded by the wild beauty of Iceland.

Your wedding day was never meant to feel like a performance.

It was meant to feel like standing on a black sand beach with the wind pulling at your clothes, looking at the person you love and knowing:

"This. This is exactly right."

No audience. No pressure.

No expectations to live up to.

Just the two of you, stepping into something that feels honest, meaningful, and completely your own.

And Iceland has a remarkable way of meeting you in that moment.

My role is to help create the space for it.

To guide you through the planning, help you navigate the unknowns, and make decisions that feel right for you—not what anyone else expects your wedding day to look like.

Living in Iceland means I know when it's worth changing the plan, when to trust the weather, and when the best thing we can do is slow down and let the moment unfold naturally.

Maybe this is why Iceland keeps calling you.

Traditional weddings never quite felt like you.

Not because you wanted something bigger.

But because you wanted something more meaningful.

A day where you could simply be yourselves. Where the conversation mattered more than the schedule. Where being present mattered more than performing.

Maybe you've spent evenings saving locations across Iceland. Reading blogs. Trying to work out which season feels right. Wondering how all the pieces fit together.

Not because you're searching for the perfect wedding.

Because you're searching for your wedding.

If that sounds familiar...

You're exactly where many of my couples begin.

South Iceland elopement photographer & Experience Designer:

Lisa McWhirter.

Hey, I'm Lisa.

I live in South Iceland, where glaciers, black sand beaches, waterfalls, ice caves, and rapidly changing weather are simply part of everyday life.

For years, I've helped couples travel here from around the world to create wedding days that feel personal, meaningful, and true to who they are—without having to figure everything out on their own.

Most couples come to me with a feeling rather than a plan.

They know they want something different.

Something more intentional.

More connected.

More than.

My role is to help shape that feeling into an experience.

I'll guide you through the locations, logistics, weather, timelines, and all the little decisions that can feel overwhelming when you're planning from another country.

Not by handing you a checklist and wishing you luck, but by helping you make decisions with confidence every step of the way.

So when the day arrives, you're not worrying about what's next.

You're standing beside the person you love, fully present, knowing you're exactly where you're meant to be.

What I hope you leave with

My hope isn't simply that you leave Iceland with beautiful photographs.

It's that years from now, you look back and say:

"That was one of the best experiences of our lives."

Because long after the flowers have faded and the dress is packed away...

that's what stays with you.

The photographs simply help you return there.

From the

“Just married” club:

“Our elopement experience with Lisa was everything we hoped for! A personalised, adventurous experience planned with local knowledge and great dedication to her craft. We have received glowing feedback on her wonderful photos and the experience as a whole from all our family and friends.

We loved how relaxed and comfortable she and Hjörleifur (our driver) made us feel. It was like spending a day with old friends, gaining knowledge about the country and our chosen locations as we adventured through these beautiful places.

Lisa's help with choosing our locations and timing was invaluable, and her planning portal was very useful in our personal planning and preparation for the day and our trip in general. In the weeks leading up to our elopement, she updated us on weather forecasts and in the weeks afterwards, she was updating us on her progress with our photos and sending us little sneak peeks. She was even able to secure a gorgeous location for us to plant a tree! Her suggested vendors all worked out wonderfully, especially our officiant Jökull, who elevated our elopement experience with his beautiful Ásatrú ceremony.

We had such an amazing experience from beginning to end, and we highly recommend Lisa for anyone looking for elopement adventure experiences.” -Dulce and Christopher

This isn’t just photography. It’s being taken care of.

Planning an elopement in Iceland should feel exciting.

Not like a second job.

That's why every experience includes the Iceland Elopement Blueprint™ — a planning process designed to help you navigate the countless decisions that come with planning a wedding from another country.

From choosing the right location and building a timeline that feels natural to navigating Iceland's unpredictable weather and connecting you with trusted local vendors, I'll guide you through each step along the way.

You don't need to spend months researching Iceland.

You don't need to wonder if you're making the right decisions.

And you definitely don't need to figure it all out on your own.

My job is to help make the process feel clear, manageable, and enjoyable, so when your day arrives, you can focus on being present rather than worrying about the details.

eloping couple laughing on a black sand beach in Iceland

Eloping in South Iceland.

Within a few hours of each other, you'll find some of Iceland's most extraordinary landscapes.

Black sand beaches.

Glaciers.

Ice caves.

Waterfalls.

Volcanic mountains.

Hidden canyons.

For most couples, this is the Iceland they've been dreaming about.

And because I live here in Vík, I know how these places change throughout the seasons, where crowds tend to gather, when the light is at its best, and how to create an experience that feels relaxed instead of rushed.

Rather than spending your wedding day driving across Iceland trying to see everything, we can focus on experiencing the very best of South Iceland.

That's often where the magic happens.

The Iceland Elopement Blueprint™

The planning framework behind McWhirter's elopement experiences.

Most couples don't come to me with a fully formed plan. They come with a feeling.

A feeling that they want something different.

Something more meaningful.

More intentional. More them.

They know they want Iceland.

They know they want an experience they'll remember for the rest of their lives.

What they don't know yet is how all the pieces fit together.

That's where the Iceland Elopement Blueprint™ comes in.

Not as another checklist. Not as another planning guide.

But as the framework that turns ideas into a fully designed experience.

One that feels calm, intentional, and completely aligned with who you are.

To take you from:

"We love the idea of eloping in Iceland, but we have no idea where to start."

To:

"We feel excited, prepared, and completely confident about what's ahead."

Because planning your elopement shouldn't feel like a second full-time job.

It should feel like the beginning of the adventure.

Why Couples Love The Blueprint™

Every unforgettable experience begins the same way.

Not with a location. Not with a timeline.

With understanding.

Once we understand what matters most to you...

the decisions become clearer.

The locations begin to make sense.

The pace starts to feel obvious.

And planning becomes much less overwhelming.

That's exactly why I created the Iceland Elopement Blueprint™.

You focus on each other.

I'll handle Iceland.

Planning an elopement in Iceland comes with plenty of moving parts.

  • The weather.

  • The logistics.

  • The permits.

The countless decisions that come with planning a wedding from another country.

The good news?

You don't have to figure it all out on your own.

While you're dreaming about where you'll exchange vows, which landscapes feel most like you, and how you want the day to unfold, I'm already thinking about weather forecasts, travel times, trusted local vendors, backup plans, and all the details that help the experience run smoothly.

  • Need help choosing the right location?

  • Wondering whether an ice cave experience is the right fit?

  • Trying to figure out what to pack for four seasons in a single day?

I've got you.

My role is to help you make decisions with confidence, navigate the unexpected, and create a day that feels personal, meaningful, and true to you.

You don’t have to figure it out alone.

Planning an elopement in another country can feel exciting one moment and overwhelming the next. There are locations to choose. Seasons to consider.

Questions about weather, travel, timelines, accommodations, and all the little details that come with planning something this meaningful from thousands of miles away.

The truth is, most couples don't come to me because they need someone to take photographs.

They come to me because they want someone they can trust to guide them through the process.

Someone who knows Iceland.

Someone who can help them make decisions with confidence.

Someone who already has a Plan B before Iceland decides it's time for one.

Long before your elopement day arrives, I'm keeping an eye on weather forecasts, checking road conditions, reviewing locations, and thinking through all the details that most couples never even see.

Not because I expect something to go wrong.

But because preparation creates freedom.

The freedom to stay present.

The freedom to adapt when Iceland does something unexpected.

The freedom to enjoy the experience instead of worrying about what's happening behind the scenes.

Because the best elopement days aren't the ones that go exactly according to plan.

They're the ones where you feel supported enough to fully experience what's happening.

That's the role I take seriously.

So whether you're wondering what season is best, feeling overwhelmed by location choices, or simply unsure where to start, you'll never have to navigate it on your own.

I've got the Iceland part covered.

The Iceland Elopement Experiences

Every couple imagines their day a little differently.

Some dream about a quiet ceremony followed by a slow afternoon together.

Others want to spend the entire day exploring Iceland's incredible landscapes.

Some don't want the experience to end after a single day.

None of those are more meaningful than the others.

They're simply different ways of experiencing Iceland.

That's why I don't think about these as photography packages.

I think about them as different experiences—each designed to support a different kind of wedding day.

As you read through them, don't ask yourself,

"Which package should we choose?"

Instead ask,

"Can we picture ourselves in this experience?"

Just us

Perfect for couples who value intimacy over attention, who'd rather exchange vows privately than stand in front of a crowd, and who believe the most meaningful moments are often the quietest ones.

Fire & Ice

Ideal for couples who want to experience Iceland's iconic landscapes without turning their elopement day into a marathon. You love adventure, but you also value comfort, connection, and having time to actually enjoy where you are.

THE WILD STORY

Designed for couples who feel most connected when they're exploring together. The ones who collect experiences instead of things and see their elopement day as the beginning of a new adventure.

THE NORTHERN PASSAGE

The Most Immersive Way To Experience Iceland.

Created for couples who value privacy, flexibility, and extraordinary experiences. The kind of people who would rather spend two unforgettable days exploring Iceland than squeeze everything into a single timeline.

What you don’t see.

Long before your elopement day arrives, I'm already preparing for it.

  • Checking weather forecasts and road conditions.

  • Reviewing timelines and backup plans.

  • Confirming logistics and making sure every detail is ready to support the experience we've designed together.

But the preparation goes beyond photography.

I’m packing hand warmers, crampons, extra layers, snacks, hot coffee, and a satellite phone

Not because I expect something to go wrong.

Because I want you to feel comfortable, supported, and free to focus on what matters most.

When your day arrives, I don't want you worrying about the weather, the timing, or whether you've forgotten something important.

I want you fully present.

Laughing together.

Taking it all in.

Standing in a place that feels almost unreal and thinking:

"We actually did this."

My role isn't just to document the experience.

It's to help create the conditions for you to enjoy it.

From the “Just married” club.

“We cannot say enough wonderful things about Lisa! From the first virtual meeting to planning our Iceland elopement, Lisa felt like a close friend who genuinely wanted to make our day perfect. She took the time to get to know us, what we wanted, and suggested many breathtaking locations for photos.

Lisa was easy to reach throughout the planning process and made everything stress-free. She even connected us with our amazing officiant and driver, who were also incredible. As we have told our friends, it felt like we had a bonus family from Iceland there to celebrate our day with us.

The pictures she took are absolutely stunning! She captured the magic of Iceland and who we are as a couple in ways we never imagined. There are so many amazing pictures, it’s hard to pick our favourite!

If you are thinking about eloping in Iceland, do it and trust Lisa to capture every unforgettable moment. She’s simply the best!” -Lauren & Cole

Flexible payment plans.

Planning an Iceland elopement is a meaningful investment, and many couples choose to spread payments out over time while organising flights, accommodation, and the rest of their adventure.

To make the process feel as comfortable as possible, flexible payment plans are available for all experiences.

The goal is simple:

To make planning feel exciting, intentional, and manageable from the very beginning.

Because the experience should feel enjoyable long before your elopement day arrives

Queer couples, trans couples, BIPOC couples, interracial couples, introverts, adventurers, soft souls, wild hearts.

If you love each other, you’re safe with me.

I actively choose locations that feel safe, private, and comfortable for you — emotionally, physically, and culturally.

Love is love is love, and it’s all welcome in Iceland.

I’m Ready for This — What Happens Next?

1. Let's Get To Know Each Other

Our first conversation isn't about choosing a package.

It's about understanding you. Your relationship. Your priorities. What excites you. What worries you.

And what kind of experience you want to create together.

By the end of our conversation, most couples leave with something they didn't have before. Not a quote. Not a sales pitch.

Clarity.

2. Together We'll Begin Designing Your Experience

Together, we'll explore locations, seasons, timelines, and the possibilities available to you in Iceland.

We'll talk through logistics, trusted recommendations, weather considerations, and how to create a day that feels completely your own.

3. When It Feels Right

Once you've chosen your experience, I'll send over your agreement and booking details.

From there, planning begins.

You'll receive personalised guidance, location ideas, and everything you need to move forward with confidence.

(My Patrick the Puffin usually celebrates this part by flying over Vik.)

4. Enjoy Becoming

While you focus on the excitement, I'll handle the planning, logistics, weather strategy, and the countless details happening behind the scenes.

Your job is simple: Dream. Show up. Get married.

I'll handle Iceland.

You don't need to have everything figured out before we talk.

In fact...

Most couples don't.

Some have a date. Some don't. Some know exactly where they want to exchange vows. Others simply know they want Iceland.

Wherever you are in the process is exactly where we can begin.

Our first conversation is simply the start of discovering what your experience could become.

This Is Where Your Story Begins

Most couples don't arrive here with a complete plan. They haven't chosen every location. They don't know which season feels right. They aren't sure how many hours they'll need.

What they do know is how they want their day to feel.

Maybe you've realised a traditional wedding doesn't quite fit. Maybe you've spent evenings scrolling through Iceland photos, trying to picture yourselves there. Maybe you simply know you want a day that feels more intentional.

More meaningful. More like you.

If that's where you are, you're exactly where many of my couples begin. And that's more than enough.

From here, we'll begin discovering what your experience could become.

We'll talk about your ideas. Your priorities. The way you naturally spend time together. The landscapes that feel like you. And all the little details that turn an idea into an experience.

I'll guide you through Iceland. You simply get to focus on each other.

Here's What Happens Next

1.) Tell me about yourselves. These questions aren't about getting the "right" answers. They're simply the first step in helping me understand who you are and the kind of experience you're dreaming about

2.) P.S. If you don't hear back within 48 hours, have a quick peek in your spam folder. Patrick the Puffin takes full responsibility. He's wonderful with moral support. Less so with email administration.

3.) I'll Reach Out Personally. I'll read through everything you've shared, reply personally, and start thinking about the kind of experience that might suit you best.

4.) We'll Explore What's Possible. There's no pressure to have everything figured out. Most couples don't. This is simply a chance to explore ideas, ask questions, and leave with more clarity than you had before. That's all.

You don't need a detailed itinerary. You don't need to know exactly what you want.

You simply need a feeling that Iceland might be the place to begin your next chapter <3
